Maple, wenge and stainless steel T25 Syncro Interior

A custom VW Interior

We have just completed a one of a kind interior for Dai Williams’ rather special T25 Syncro. Having put his heart and soul (not to mention a considerable amount of money!) into his van, with a ground up and unique rebuild, updated running gear and a meaty Subaru engine Dai was looking for someone to build an interior to match the quality of the rest of the build. He ended up choosing Dubteriors.

It’s no surprise that a van as modified as Dai’s would need a completely custom interior, an interior that matched the quality of the rest of the build. Unique to the design was the exterior side hatch which needed to be accessible from both the inside and out, there also needed to be storage space behind the cupboards for off-road equipment. Our design aimed to provide as much regular cupboard space as possible along with the required access to the rear storage area.

Our design was presented and, apart from a few minor changes (we tried to talk Dai into a sink for example but he was adamant no sink was required!) was accepted and so we began building an interior like no other.

As it’s quite dark in the van we opted for a light lining carpet and a light timber finish – in this case maple. For a bit of bling we added stainless steel strips which would be lit by led strip lights under the wenge counter top. We also had to come up with a custom bed platform as the seat is higher than your usual rock and roll camper van bed as it has to accommodate the LPG tank.
